My beloved Hamada quietly and peacefully and with great dignity left us today to go home to be with God.
“Dear Universe a new angel has joined. He is handsome, caring, loving and a great symbol of courage and strength. His wings spread across the globe sincerely and lovingly touching the lives of many. His journey on earth has been an inspiration of courage to us allâ€

God bless you, Susie and all of your family. I have followed your journey through Dianne’s Caring Bridge site. You have touched my heart many times with your loving words. May your heart be comforted by the immense gift of love that the two of you will share through all eternity.
Working with Hospice for many years, I know there were beautiful angels that swept your beloved husband into the waiting arms of God. Please find comfort knowing that He sends angels to comfort you, too. Watch for them.
Susie, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Love and hugs to you and yours – Paula & Bernard xxx
‘You are always in our hearts and the sparkling of our eyes.’
Dear Susie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have been following you blog for almost one year now, following your inspirational story and reading your beautiful poems. Your story has truly touched me. It is rare when you find love, the type of love that you and Hamada shared. I felt it ocean apart and it warmed my heart.
I am so sorry. I am thinking about you!
With love,
Lina
How hard these days have been for you… and yet you have gracefully kept us informed and we share your grief at the departure of your beloved Hamada. My very deepest sympathies to you and all your family and friends who have to say goodbye to this remarkable man.
My thoughts will be with you all during these next few weeks, but especially for you, Susie, as you find your way in your new world… and I thought the picture of Hamada with your grandson was so loving and appropriate for this sad news… XXX
Dearest Susie
We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of Hamada. We know how difficult this must be for you, even though it was expected.
You are in our thoughts and prayers . Hamada was such a kind and gentle soul and will be terribly missed.
We have so many happy memories of our good times together.
Remember?? One time at Chester and Nadia’s house in Al Ain
We all danced and did the Tina Turner’s ‘ imitation’ dance – Gosh! What fun!
And then Chester fell over and knocked his big clock off the floor –
Dear! oh! dear! Don’t think that was the dance??
Susie, you have been an absolute TOWER OF STRENGTH .
Hamada made it this- thus far, with the amazing TLC, he continued to receive from his beloved wife – YOU walked the talk and all the up’s and down’s
He absolutely knew how much you cared, that’s why 6 months became over 4 years, but you know that!
We know or can only imagine how much you will miss Hamada and wish we could be of more help in your hours of pain
We encourage you to draw from your personal strengths, plus your positive qualities and the strength of your wonderful family
Please Susie never forget, you are always welcome in our home in CT – whenever you are ready for a break
Once, again may God bless you and your family during this time and ALWAYS
All our love and oh! So thinking of you XXXXX
Your ole buddies Pieter and Zena
Susie,
God has blessed both Hamada and yourself by getting you together. He was escorted in his transition from this life lovingly by you over the last few years. You’ve both reached out from your small village to the entire world to share your story of love. You must know in your heart that you did everything you could to keep him happy during a very difficult time. You love for him (and his reaction to that love) has been an inspiration for many…I know it is for me.
My prayers are with you.
Dear Susie, I am Vals daughter and have been following your blog for a while too and have enjoyed your beautiful poems, many bringing tears to my eyes. Mum told me today of the passing of Hamada, I just wanted to express my sadness and hope that you find the strength to get you through this sad time. Take care love Julie xxxxx

Susie, My deepest condolonces for the great loss of the great man
Susie, I have been the keeper of the flame for my darling Daniel has battled multiple myeloma for almost 6 years. We have had three transplants and have never had remisssion. I happened on your blog a year ago while sitting in Dan’s hospital room and have been a reader ever since. Tonight when I learned of Hamadas passing I could barely contain my grief, for you, your beautiful family, your friends and I suppose for myself as well. I often wonder if today will be the day and the reality of your news made me wish I could embrace you and tell you that someone in Denver knows what a courageous battle was waged. Please know that you are a sister in spirit. Yours in great sympathy, Susan Patterson

Dearest Susie, I hope you physically feel the “virtual” hugs and soothings of all of us who love you yet are physically located in other places. Deep peace I pray for you. You know that physically though Hamada may no longer be with you, hi…s spirit, his joy, his essence, and most especially his love will ALWAYS be a part of you. It is woven into the very fibers of your being. These can never be separated from who you are. Such courage, such love, such a battle. I’m glad Hamada got to see and be a part of the things he might not have, had he passed earlier. I’m grateful for the time you had with him while he was “here”. Sending you prayers and much, much love mingled with our sorrow for this loss from the physical world. xxxx Karen and JohnSee more

Please forgive my intrusion to this most personal website. I am looking for some old friends, ZENA AND PETER GIESSEN, from our tour in Cairo, Egypt in the early 1980’s. A web search brought me to this page due to their comment above. If you maintain contact with them, would you please send me a contact for them; OR perhaps safer yet, would you forward my email contact to them. We have some great memories from that time (Bob and Donna Haynes -former dart partners in Cairo!). Again, thank you for any assistance and I apologize for this last resort contact attempt on your site.
@Donna – Hi Donna – Yes I am in contact with dear Zena and Pieter, I cannot of course, out of respect and security for them, give their email address to you but I WILL pass on to them YOUR email address. I am sure they will be very happy to hear from you. Best Wishes.
Regards Susie Hemingway.
